Privacy policy
In force on October 27, 2026. What Hollow shows stays on your Mac; this page says what leaves it, and why.
This translation is provided for convenience: the French version is the one that binds. Version française
1. Data controller
OBE Studio, trade name of Olivier BOURREL, sole trader (EI), 17 rue Bouquière, 33000 Bordeaux, France. Contact: support@hollowmac.com.
2. What stays on your Mac
Hollow reads on the Mac what it shows in the notch: your calendar events, the music playing, the battery and Bluetooth devices, the Focus state, the number of unread Slack and WhatsApp messages (never their content) and the activity of your Claude Code and Codex agents (project, conversation title, state). This information does not leave the Mac: neither OBE Studio nor anyone else receives it.
3. Weather
If you turn the weather on and allow location, Hollow asks Apple's WeatherKit service for the weather with an approximate position, to the nearest kilometer. This request goes straight to Apple, under its own privacy policy: OBE Studio does not receive your location.
4. Trial and license
For the trial and the license, Hollow talks to the license server (license.hollowmac.com):
- a device identifier: a SHA-256 hash computed from the Mac's hardware identifier, which never leaves the Mac in clear;
- the start date of the trial;
- the license keys activated on this Mac and the signed token that attests them.
Purpose: running the trial and the licenses, and preventing abuse (restarted trial, shared key). Legal basis: performance of the contract and OBE Studio's legitimate interest in fighting fraud.
5. Purchase
Payment is processed by Stripe, which collects your payment details under its own privacy policy. OBE Studio receives from Stripe your email address, the payment identifiers and its amount, never your card number. This data, linked to your key, is used to deliver it, to help you, to process a refund and to keep the accounts. Legal basis: performance of the contract and accounting obligations.
6. Support and reviews
When you write to support, from the app or by email, OBE Studio receives your email address, your message and, if you choose so, technical details (Hollow and macOS versions, Mac model, offer, language).
When you leave a review from the app, OBE Studio receives the rating, the comment, the first name or nickname entered, the language, the version and the offer. A comment is published on the website only if you agreed to it, and after review.
7. Updates and website
Hollow checks for updates on hollowmac.com, which sends the IP address and the app's version.
The hollowmac.com website sets no cookies and shows no advertising. It measures its audience with PostHog, without cookies or storage in the browser: pages viewed, clicks, referring page, browser, operating system, country and page speed. A visitor is only recognized within a single day, by a fingerprint of the date, the IP address and the browser; the IP address is not kept. Legal basis: OBE Studio's legitimate interest in knowing how the website is found and used. Cloudflare, which hosts it, processes the IP address to deliver the pages and protect them; the license server uses it to limit the number of requests.
8. Service providers
- Cloudflare, Inc.: hosting of the website and the license server, sending of emails;
- Stripe Payments Europe, Ltd. (Ireland): payment;
- PostHog, Inc.: audience measurement of the website, data hosted in the European Union;
- Google (Gmail): the support inbox.
Cloudflare and Google may process data in the United States, under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission's standard contractual clauses. No data is sold or used for advertising.
9. Retention
- device identifier and trial date: as long as the service runs, so that a trial does not start again;
- key, email address and payment: the life of the license, and 10 years for accounting records;
- messages to support: the time needed to handle the request, then 3 years at most;
- reviews: until they are deleted, at your request;
- website visit statistics: 1 year;
- server technical logs: a few days.
10. Your rights
You can access your data, have it corrected or erased, restrict its processing, object to it and ask for its portability by writing to support@hollowmac.com. Accounting records are kept for the time required by law. You can also lodge a complaint with the CNIL, the French data protection authority (www.cnil.fr), or the authority of your country.
